Jose Sanchez is an Environmental Educator for Trees New York with a passion for environmental hazard research. Previously co-running the Young Urban Forester Internship in the summer of 2025, he continues to expand environmental education programming in The Bronx and Queens. As a native New Yorker who witnessed the destructiveness of Hurricane Sandy, Jose wishes to engage students in the role of protecting New York City’s urban forest from hazardous environmental conditions. Jose has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies with a concentration in Earth Systems Science and pursing a Masters in Earth Science Adolescent Education to continue teaching students the importance of maintaining the ecosystem in an urban setting.
