Stewarding Canopy and Community in Central Queens!

Stewarding Canopy and Community in Central Queens!

Trees New York is excited to announce one of our newest projects in partnership with NYC Parks and Tree Time – Stewarding Canopy and Community in Central Queens!

This initiative aims to expand the canopy cover through tree planting and stewardship, create workforce development opportunities, connect youth and adult residents with their urban forest, and train them to take on leadership roles to promote and advocate for improved environmental conditions. Funding for this project is provided by the Inflation Reduction Act and the USDA Forest Service, Urban and Community Forestry Program.

Trees New York will bring all our programming to the target neighborhoods of Elmhurst, Corona, and Jackson Heights.

Project activities include our Young Urban Forester internship, Youth Environmental Literacy Program, our signature Citizen Pruner course, and stewardship and pruning workshops.

Please help us spread the news and share this information with your neighbors. If they or you are interested in participating in the project or taking the Citizen Pruner course, click the button below and complete the interest form.
