Schools and Trees!

From planting an oak tree in front of their school to planting a serviceberry tree in their garden, our students learn that every new tree improves the health and beauty of our city and offers them a valuable learning opportunity.

Our Schools and Trees project allows students to learn outside the classroom, connect with their urban environment, and plant trees on their school grounds. When students have the opportunity to learn outdoors, they develop a greater interest in the environment and in subjects like math and science.

We are so excited to announce that with the generous support of two family foundations, we have expanded this project throughout 2025 and into 2026! For the upcoming school year, our goal is to recruit 20 schools, plant at least 40 trees, and work with 400 students. Before planting the trees, students learn about the many benefits trees provide to the urban environment. Students are introduced to environmental concepts and learn how to become stewards and advocates for our urban forest.
