Trees New York will provide an overview of best practices for street tree bed care and ongoing stewardship needs in Long Island City and The Nature Conservancy will provide a citywide perspective on how public engagement with the urban forest helps advance progress toward a 30% canopy goal. After brief remarks, attendees will care for the trees including removing litter and weeds, cultivating soil, and watering.   

Speakers at the event will include Nelson Villarrubia (Executive Director of Trees New York), Bill Ulfelder (Executive Director of The Nature Conservancy in New York, and Paul Lozito (Deputy Executive Director for the Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice).
