NYC Urban Forest Plan
Along with our Forest for All NYC partners, we share a vision of a healthy urban forest that benefits all New Yorkers!
We are excited to announce that the city has created the first ever city-wide urban forestry plan, which focuses on best practices in maintaining and expanding the tree canopy and community engagement.
We hosted a series of workshops that gave New Yorkers the opportunity to have their voices heard as they shared their opinions and provided input in the development of the urban forestry management plan. Workshops and webinars were hosted in partnership with Forest for All NYC and sponsored by The Nature Conservancy.
“Trees are critical infrastructure, and the newly released Urban Forest Plan is a transformative resource for protecting and expanding our city’s urban forest. For over two decades, Trees New York has been honored to partner with NYCHA to expand the tree canopy on their campuses, ensuring that every New Yorker can enjoy the countless benefits trees provide. We are also extremely proud to have worked with our Forest for All NYC colleagues to help collect community input that helped shape the Urban Forest Plan,” said Nelson Villarrubia, Executive Director of Trees New York. “This plan sets a bold vision for a healthier, more resilient, and more equitable city, and we are proud to help make New York City a leader in urban and community forestry.”
We encourage everyone to learn more about the City’s NYC Urban Forest Plan!
